Description
This February 14, 1947, photograph reveals the facade of the Standard Oil Company of California, located at 909 Twelfth Street. After a year-long renovation the building was opened for Standard's use in November of 1942. The company's Sacramento heritage goes back to 1885, when the oil refiner and producer opened its first warehouse along the Sacramento waterfront which was operated by two men and two wagons. By the time this photograph was taken, Standard's value was well over 1 billion dollars.
