Photograph was edited for publication purposes Los Angeles County was officially declared a disaster area on July 21, 1960 as up to six fires raged out of control, including fires in Sunland-Tujunga, San Dimas Canyon, San Gabriel Canyon, Big Pines, and Magic Mountain. Photograph caption dated July 21, 1960 reads, "Smoke from Sunland foothill fire billows up from Hillhaven street [sic], casting cloud over Foothill boulevard. Residents of area joined 200 city firemen in quelling blaze. Chief arteries of traffic, such as Foothill and Sunland boulevards, later were closed by Los Angeles Police Department which sent about 50 men to aid fire fighters."; See images #00114972 through #00114975 for all photos in this series.
