Caption written under photo: "Ross Alley Chinatown 1904." Photo looking north on Ross between Washington and Jackson shows a horse-drawn cart parked in this narrow alley, lined with balconies. A Chinese man is at the right looking at the camera. The alley is paved with planks. Chinese signs are everywhere.
