Title devised by cataloger; date supplied by cataloger based on year provided for same photograph reproduced on the Los Angeles Times website with title "Santa Monica Pier, 1947." The Los Angeles Times identifies the man at left as Walter Newcomb, who purchased the Looff Pleasure Pier in 1943.
