Description
Group of 15 men and women dressed in costume, posing on woven rug. One man at back center is dressed as a frontiersman or cavalry officer, and appears to be holding a sword. Another man, with long wig and mustache, is apparently dressed as a Native American chief, holding a tomahawk and wearing a feathered headdress and multiple necklaces of shells. The rest of the group are dressed in their costumed version of Native American women's garments, in long, fringed tunics, accessorized with necklaces and belts of beaded shells, and an assortment of feathered and beaded headbands. One of the women is holding a bow and arrow; several women are carrying long pieces of wood, and knives. It's unclear whether the occasion was part of a club or society activity, theatrical production, costume party, or other event.
