Photograph caption dated March 13, 1965 reads, "Valley Scouts light council fire at Youth Rally Day in North Hollywood Park to begin rededication ceremonies of the park's Tree Trail. Many local youth groups participated. Below, the Walter Reed Junior High School Band plays the National Anthem, with Donald Morosic directing. The program, sponsored by the North Hollywood Community Coordinating Council and the Department of Parks and Recreation, featured Indian ceremonial songs and dances and guest speaker George Hjelte, director of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo. It was climaxed by the planting of a giant Sequoia by members of various youth groups. The event concluded with a tour of the park's open Tree Trail and a visit to the recreation area where exhibits by the participating groups were shown. These included displays from the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Woodcraft Rangers, Campfire Girls, 'Y' Youth Groups and many others."; See image #00116923 for additional photo in this series.
