Photograph caption dated March 12, 1960 reads, "The terrifying force of explosion that tore a Culver City apartment house to pieces is told all too well in this picture of shambles. Fortunately, no one was killed, but 16 were injured, including 11 children. Officials believe leaking gas caused the blast at 3422 Helms ave. Two other buildings were damaged."
