Photograph article dated October 12, 1962 partially reads, "During his 28 years as head of Burbank's park and recreation program, Dewey R. Kruckeberg has watched his department grow from an infant to an adult that refuses to stop growing. When Kruckeberg retires Jan. 31, 1963, at the age of 70, he will leave to his successor a network of parks and a far-reaching recreation program which were less than dreams a quarter of a century ago."
