Description
Looking over the city as it was in the late nineteenth century. The San Gabriel Mountains provide a backdrop for the shot. handwriting at the top of the photograph reads: "Claremont, Calif. view N.W. from Cupola of Holmes Hall" Several buildings are also identified. Clockwise beginning with the top left, the labels read as follows: "Dezendorf built 1892, Grammar School '88, Dean Norton ('93), Miss Lee (built 1895), Roof of Holmes Hall Chapel, 'The Box' Harshorn built 1891 (The Ark was built E. of this in 1896), 6th Street, Dezendorf (1892) Phelps born '92, Palmer."
