First photograph caption dated July 4, 1959 reads "Johnny Rackin, 15, of Van Nuys, himself an age group swimming champion and record holder, also is donor of the Johnny Rackin Trophy he is shown holding. It is an award made each year in the Keo Nakama meet in Honolulu, an event in which he competed for the first time in 1956. The Rackin award became an annual one four years ago." Second photograph caption dated May 20, 1961 reads "Double honor. Johnny Rackin of North Hollywood not only has been selected as a member of this year's United States Maccabiah Games team to compete in Israel in August-September but has become the first swimmer in the country to make the All-American prep school team four consecutive years. Seventeen years of age, he is senior at Black-Foxe Military Academy in Hollywood."
