Description
This is a photograph of the actor's card (also known as a portrait or personality card) of Anton Lang as Christ. On the bottom of the card is printed "Christusdarsteller Anton Lang. Oberammergau." (Translated from the German: "Christ performer (actor) Anton Lang. Oberammergau.") Handwritten in ink on the card: "To Mr. [illegible], Guten Erfolg zu Ihrem Spiele. Gottes Segen. Anton Lang, Christus, 1922." (Translated from the German: "Good success in your play. God bless. Anton Lang, Christ, 1922.") Anton Lang (1875-1938) was a German studio potter and actor in the Oberammergau Passion Play. He played the role of Christ in 1900, 1910, and 1922. Since 1634 the passion play has been performed in the small Bavarian town of Oberammergau at the interval of every ten years (with some exceptions). Scanned with Microtek Scanmaker 1000XL Pro; as a 600 dpi TIFF image in 8-bit Grayscale. Auto Level image processing applied and compressed into JPEG format using Photoshop CS3.
