Description
The two-story residence of Nathaniel C. Carter on the Willow Dale estate in San Gabriel (now San Marino, California), with porch, sits on a gentle slope with a fenced-in garden in front. To the left, a horse-drawn carriage and a woman astride another horse, and a vineyard is planted in the foreground.
Title transcribed from front of photo-mount. Alt-title transcribed from back. Date devised by cataloger; Watkins made two trips to Southern California, in 1877 and 1880. Printed to left of title: "B. 4,401," and below title: "Watkins' New Series Yo Semite and Pacific Coast, 427 Montgomery Street. San Francisco. " Image corresponds with Watkins New Series stereo #4401 with a variant title.
