These photographs are contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Two views of the Bay District Race Track and surrounding area.
Caption written under photo at top of page 422: "Bay District Race Track 1893 looking down the quarter stretch from the 1/4 pole." "Sutro Heights [with arrow]" written to left. View looks south along west side of track towards Golden Gate Park and Mt. Sutro. Wooden grandstand is on the right. Caption written under photo below: "Bay Distict Race Track looking along the back stretch from the 3/4 pole." "French Hospital [with arrow]" written to left. View looks north up east side of track running along First Avenue. The Geary Street Cable Railroad barn and powerhouse can be seen in the right distance at First and Geary. French Hospital is at the left. The Richmond District, the Presidio, and Mt. Tamalpais are visible in the distance.
Text written at top of page: "Those were the happy days. Good Day. Good Track. Good Horse. Good Rider and a Good Bet down--Oh Boy! Come on you Stan Ruby & Jockey Bill!"
Text written at bottom of page: "Bay District Track was bounded by First Avenue, Fulton St., Geary Street and 5th Avenue. The main entrance to the grounds was on Fifth Avenue between Fulton St. and what is now known as Cabrillo Street, at the time Fulton was known as 'D'Street. Some of the greatest horses ever looked through a bridle raced over this track-Katie Pease, Wildidle, Thad Stevens, Molly M:Carthy, Joe Daniels, Stan Ruby, Morrello, Libertine Los Angeles, Rey el Santa Anita, Beaconsfield, Tenny, Salvator, Racine, Cazar, Floodgate, Rey Alfonso, Logan, Emotion, Chinaman, Ballot Boz, Zamar, Preston, The Roman, Mark L., El Rio Rey."
