Photograph of starboard profile of the U.S.S. Maine with launches alongside, 1908. At center, the side profile of the massive ship is seen. A small boat can barely be seen to the left of the ship, and another is visible near the center of the lightly-colored hull. On the deck of the ship, several passengers can be seen standing on both ends of the vessel. At the center of the ship, three tall smokestacks are clearly visible. The middle smokestack is seen emitting a thick trail of black smoke into the sky. To the left and right, tall masts frame the smokestacks. Two flags can be seen adorning the tops of the masts. Similarly, a single flag American flag is seen near the back of the ship. In the extreme background to the right, the faint silhouette of a mountain or land is barely visible.
