Description
Photograph of the A.C. Burrage mansion as seen from Canon Crest Park (Smiley Heights) in Redlands, San Bernardino County, California, ca.1901. A wide, flat valley is at center and is covered by citrus groves. The neat rows of trees can be seen especially well in the foreground at right. Taller trees form borders around the orchards, protecting them from wind. At right, the A.C. Burrage mansion with two domed towers is visible. A mountain range stretches across the entire image in the background, while the trunk of a tree is visible in the foreground at left. Note: Originally, the photograph was captioned as, " "A California Valley Scene" in Riverside, ca.1900.
