Description
Photograph of a view of Table Rock, from the road of a thousand wonders, Southern Oregon, [s.d.]. A pebbly shore and a river, partially covered by logs, fill in the landscape in the foreground. A vegetated mountain can be seen in the backdrop while a large rock formation is observable on its top. "Table Rock, Historic Legion, Indians in the early day having jumped from this high precipice to avoid being captured by the whites and were crashed(?) to pieces on the rocks nearly 200 ft below" -- handwritten note on verso (a refuted myth). "Table Rock, Southern Oregon, scene of battle between Rogue River Indians and Volunteers in early 1850s. Treaty with Indians also signed here" -- typed note attached to verso.
