Palms and rain forest vegetation are planted next to the Statler Hotel escalators as workmen finish polishing the rails. Photograph caption dated August 6, 1952 reads, "Statler escalators polished for opening. For gradual opening which will reach climax this fall, Statler Hotel escalators are readies as first guests arrive."
