Description
George Colman, the younger, writes to an unknown actor who has just agreed to join Colman's company. In four full pages, Colman discusses what the beginning of the actor's time might look like, assuring the actor that he will pick parts that best contribute to the actor's reputation and success. Colman asks, from a range of theater archetypes, in what sort of roles the actor feels himself "to have succeeded most, with the audience." Colman ends the letter by assuring the actor that he has the actor's interests, not his own, "fully at heart." Letter bears a watermark.
