Description
Sacramento's outlet for International Business Machines - known to most of the world as IBM - located itself at 1015 Thirteenth Street in 1935. From its opening, until the year that this photograph was taken in 1949, the store's manager was Frederick Abegglen, a Sacramento native and first generation Swiss-American. Rothrock's Dance Studio, operated by Harry and Katharine Rothrock, occupied the upper portion of the lot at 1015-and-a-half. Their presence in the Sacramento area was longstanding and included notable exhibitions at the California State Fair during the 1940s and 50s.
