Photo--black and white: Sturgeon's Sawmill, This is the crew at that time--1939 Back row: Raymond Teige (or Feige), trimmer man, Bert Teige (or Feige), edger man and Ray's father. Front row: D. Donati--fireman, Ralph S. Sturgeon, edgerman, Ben Gonnella, delivered lumber and worked in yard, John W. Gonnella--sawyer, filer, mill right and ½ owner, Wade Sturgeon--yardman, bookkeeper and ½ owner. Dad also worked on edger. "I Ralph S. Sturgeon worked on landing, helped on repairs, piled lumber, delivered lumber on old 1921, solid tire Federal. About this time we bought a Dorris truck. I hauled lumber and logs on this truck. It was a "Dandy." In the 1940's I had Ed LaFont, my cousin, install a two-speed Brownie transmission, that was the answer.
