Photograph caption dated June 3, 1965 reads, "Jockey John Longden keeps tight hold on Hammond and Hall's George Royal as the pride of Western Canada rambles through a morning drill in preparation for Saturday's running of the $100,000 added Californian, mile and one-sixteenth headliner at Hollywood Park. Longden and George Royal teamed up to win the $125,000 San Juan Capistrano Handicap last winter at Santa Anita."
