Description
Republican mural, New Lodge Road, New Lodge, Belfast, 1998. Mural commemorates events of 3rd February 1973 when Jim Sloan, Jim McCann, Brendan Maguire, Tony TC Campbell, John Loughran, Ambrose Hardy, all local men. Sloan, McCann and Campbell were IRA volunteers, Loughran, Maguire and Hardy were civilians; Campbell, Hardy, Loughran and Maguire were all shot dead by a British Army sniper on 3rd February 1973. Sloan and McCann were alleged to have been killed by a non-specific Loyalist group on the same date.
