Photograph caption dated December 9, 1929 reads, "Worth Bernard, Los Angeles high school senior who won The Evening Herald's seventh annual extemporaneous oratorical contest by unanimous decision, is pictured holding the Herald trophies of victory, the individual cup, left, which was awarded to him, and the perpetual cup which goes to his school. With him are two boys who tied for second place, Bob Clatworthy of Manual Arts high school, at left, and Morrison Wood of Lincoln high school, at right."
