Mayan women and children fill their jugs of water at the local water well. They are wearing red outfits. Chajul's Catholic church is in the background. In 1980, the Catholic Church had to pull out of the Quiché Department, where Chajul is located, after three priests were killed. Catholic workers did not return to the region until late 1984.
