Campo de Cahuenga was an adobe ranch house where the Treaty of Cahuenga was signed between Lieutenant Colonel John C. Fremont and General Andres Pico in 1847, ending hostilities in California between Mexico and the United States. The original structure was demolished and a replica adobe ranch house was built by the City of Los Angeles following preservation efforts by the San Fernando Valley Historical Society. The new building was dedicated on November 2, 1950. It is now a park and interpretive center managed by the city's Parks and Recreation Department with the Campo de Cahuenga Historical Memorial Association. Photograph caption dated March 9, 1960 reads, "Ray Cannon, member of State Fish and Game Commission, right, points to pool at Campo de Cahuenga in North Hollywood to illustrate his idea on conservation. Listening intently are members of Peyton Randolph chapter of Daughters of American Revolution, from left, Mrs. Carolyn Ball, Mrs. Florence C. Roger, and Miss Carla Laemmle."
