Description
Shown in circa 1945, and as seen from Plaza Park, is the Western States Life Insurance Building, located at 926 J Street. Constructed in 1925, the building housed Western States until its removal to a new Midtown headquarters in 1953. The 14-story structure stayed in the group's hands until 1963 when it was sold for 1.83 million dollars to the Hawaiian-based Alexander and Baldwin Incorporated.
