Text accompanying photo: "Cannery quality fruit like this failed for years to break even in either the fresh os canning market, Leonard was seeking an outlet for a premium grade of dried apricots after 1927. Prior to that time his freshpack consistently topped the Bay Area markets at $80 to $120 per ton. Market levels sagged about 50% after 1927."
