Description
Photograph of an aerial view of Los Angeles near Flower Street and Washington Boulevard, 1939. The viewer is directly above the city, and a grid of broad streets spans the entire image. Several athletic fields are visible, but most of the view is taken up by hundreds of small buildings crowded into the spaces between the roads. The photo is oriented with "south" up. In the upper right quadrant the St. Vincent's cathedral and AAA headquarters are plainly visible (Figueroa & Adams), which helps to orient the viewer.
