Description
Postcard shows a photo of November 12, 1936 as the toll plaza officially opened. Pedestrians were not allowed to walk on the bridge, but 5000 San Franciscans walked onto the bridge, creating a massive traffic jam. While it was open, the bridge was not yet finished, as tracks for interurban electric tracks still had to be installed on the lower deck. This postcard was made to commemorate the 50 year anniversiary of the bridge, started in 1933 and finished in 1936. Number 10 of a 10 postcard limited edition set.
