Description
Helen Smith and her six children pose in their one room apartment, where 8 people sleep in three beds. The room is 15x15 feet and has a toilet and shower built as an extension to the house. The house has hot water and rents for $45 per month plus utilities. It has been flooded out twice in recent storms. The average salary of the father, Frank, is $50 per week. Frank stays in town to be able to get to work by 6 a.m. The house has been condemned by the Board of Health and the family is about to be evicted by the sheriff. They will be relocated to Rose Hill Housing Project.
