Description
On back: "1895. Charles D. Herrold taking the sun with a bubble (sic) type sexton (sic). This peculiar shaped device is an extension to the telescope. 415 North Fifth Street house still there." Featured on page 49 of Greb/Adams "Charles Herrold, Inventor of Radio Broadcasting," with caption: Charles Herrold on the roof of his San Jose home observatory in the early 1890s. He and his father built this addition to the family garage."
