Description
Photograph of Martin's camp on the old trail on Mount Wilson, California, ca.1890. About five small wooden buildings dot the camp which is on the slope surrounded by trees. Three people are on the covered porch of the building in the bottom left foreground. Three burros are visible tethered to a hitching line. The mountainside is visible in the background. "Clarence S. Martin, 67 years of age, a pioneer resident of Pasadena and founder of Sweitzer camp, familiar as a resort for hunters throughout the Arroyo Seco district, died last night at the mountain resort. He is survived by one son, William Martin, a Pasadena buisiness man." -- Newspaper clipping, 1 September 1911.
