Photograph caption dated June 12, 1954 reads "Work gets under way shortly for a new Pacoima sub-post office on Arleta avenue, off Osborne street. Congressman Edgar Hiestand and Ferd Sturtevant, candidate for the 41st Assembly District, helped Mrs. Lillian Friedman, Pacoima postmaster break ground for the new project. Left to right, above, are Ben L. O'Brien, president Pacoima Chamber of Commerce; S. P. True, first postman for Pacoima; Archie Henson, builder; Mrs. Lillian Friedman, Ferd Sturtevant, Cong. Edgar Hiestand, Ralph G. Benton, contractor and D. P. Loomis, Pacoima banker and mayor of City of San Fernando."
