Description
Astonishing the city fathers, young "jitterbugs" are shown dancing on the polished marble floors of the Council chambers in City Hall. A portable phonograph blared and 10 young couples began bouncing on the floor. President Burns of the City Council rapped for order, but the "jitterbugs" were "out of this world, whirling and stomping." At the left, a couple does the "Flying Dutchman" while other "alligators" also "go to town." Photo dated: September 7, 1938.
