Description
Two women in Parisian fashions for 1829. The woman on the left stands diagonally to the viewer and has her hair braided and curled with pink, blue, yellow and green flowers. She wears a double stranded pearl necklace with a gold pendant. The collar is a wide white ruffle a white ruffle trim and pink criss-crossed ribbon detailing. The dress has short, puff sleeves with a pink ribbon around the cuffs. She wears a pair of white gloves with scalloped edging and holds a fan in one hand and a bouquet of flowers in the other. The bodice is plain white with princess seams. She wears a woven belt, which comes to a point at the center. Hanging from the point are a string of pink balls that get successively bigger. A large, pink tassel hangs at the bottom. The white skirt has four rows of criss-crossed pink ribbon at the knees and at the hem. She wears a pair of white ballet flats over white stockings. The woman on the right is seated with her back toward the viewer. In her braided and curled hair are several pink, blue, yellow, and green flowers. The collar of her dress is the same as the other woman's except the criss-crossed ribbon is white instead of pink. Around her shoulders is a mint green, brown, and black plain cloak. A section of chain can be seen on the inside of the cloak's shoulder. She is seated on a bench with a deep red cushion. Gold and white fringe hang off of the seat. The legs are created with two crescent shaped pieces attached by their curves with a circular piece.
