Description
Judge Welch, Mrs. Welch and Mrs. Whiting in Yosemite, Summer 1919. They all wear hiking garb and have broad brimmed hats. Written on back: "They were all staying at Glacier Point Hotel at Yosemite one summer. It was 1919. Left -- Mrs. Whiting (S. F.), Center -- Dad, Right -- Mother." Photo is one of several found in an envelope from Welch family labeled: "Snaps of stays in Yosemite -- Summer 1919 Xmas 1922 -- J.R., Mrs., Frances & Ione spent almost a week at the Sentinal Hotel on the Merced River. It was the first time Yosemite was open to the public in the winter. Train from S. J. to Merced, & to El Portal - then truck-like heavy bus on to the Hotel."
