Excerpts (pages 105-110, 114, 117-118, 121-124, 137-141, 151-153, 210-211, 245-246, 249-251, 257-258, 260-268, 271-272, 288-291, 304-306, 310-317, 331-333, 450, 452-453, 456-460, 478) from the Manual of the Los Angeles Police Department, which describes in detail the Department's policies and procedures. Included are parts from five "volumes" from the manual, 1991. PART OF A SERIES: O'Melveny & Myers, the firm for which Commission Chairman Warren Christopher worked, conducted research pertaining to the structure and organization of the LAPD. Included in the series are materials related to the firm's research and work product, including excerpts from city charter revisions, summaries of dissertations and books about organizational control of the police, memoranda on various structural issues facing both the LAPD and the Commission's investigation, an excerpt from the Manual of the Los Angeles Police Department, and a transcript of court proceedings in Collins v. City of Los Angeles, a civil case in which a female African-American police recruit filed a lawsuit against the city on the grounds of racial and gender discrimination.
