Description
Photograph of Japanese American Boy Scout Troop 41 posing with citizens and chaperons. The torii of Itsukushima Shrine is in the background. Japanese writings on the back side includes the date, July 30, 1929. From page 35 of Kubo pre-WWII photographs album (sac_kubo_0022).
James J. Kubo (b. 1916) was married to Tsugi Hamada (b. 1918) and opened an optometrist business in Sacramento in 1938. They had two sons, Ronald and Douglas, and a daughter, Beverly. He was incarcerated at Tule Lake Incarceration Camp until he left for Chicago and was drafted into the Military Intelligence Service (MIS). Mr. Kubo returned to Sacramento after completing his service at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
