Photograph of Panoramic view of Fort Street (North Broadway), south from Temple Street, after 1881. The first Los Angeles High School can be seen in the middle, at left, located atop the Poundcake (later Court) Hill. In the foreground, at left, what appears to be a church building and what seems to be a residence are visible. A line of other Victorian-style residences line Broadway (then Fort Street) to the right. In the close background, at center, the spire of the First Presbyterian Church is visible the church was located at south-east corner of Broadway and Second Street it was sold in 1897, and presumed demolished soon thereafter. A hill, possibly the Sugarloaf Hill, is partially visible to the right. The road is apparently unpaved. See also CHS-7045.
