Teacher training in the 1950s, followed by theological studies in Bielefeld and Hamburg, Germany. Ordained pastor 1960. MD from Boston University, USA, 1962-64. Consecrated Bishop in Bukoba, 20th September 1964. Rev. Kibira served as bishop until 1984. Was elected to President of Lutheran World Federation/LWF, 1977-84.
