Description
A photograph of Hewes citrus packing house employees pasted on a brown album sheet, El Modena, Orange, California, USA, circa 1920s. This is a large group portrait of the staff taken outdoors, in front of the packing house factory buildings, owned by David Hewes. The packing house was at the center of an orange and lemon grove. The group mainly consists of women, seated at the front with the men standing at the back. Several bicycles are visible to the left. There is an ink inscription at the base of the photograph. On the reverse, are two photographs of a woman cradling an infant, taken May 1922. The women most likely worked at the packing house pictured on the reverse. The photographs are in good condition.
