Photograph caption dated August 17, 1964 reads, "Practice, practice and more practice heads the daily calendars of tennis players of the Volunteer League of the San Fernando Valley as they prepare for the Wimbledon West Tennis Tournament Oct 10 at the Lake Encino Racquet Club. Tennis players, above, are Mmes. Walter von Gremp Jr., Chatsworth, left; Sidney H. Gilmore, Toluca Lake, and Lloyd R. Wise, Woodland Hills. The tournament will be played in two parts; preliminaries in the morning on several private courts in the Valley and finals in the afternoon at the Lake Encino Racquet Club. There will be four classifications of winners and a cocktail party at the club will follow the event. Assisting Mrs. Gilmore, chairman, are Mmes. Bruce Throckmorton, Donald Allen, Eugene Biedebach, Howell Johnson, William Megowan, Bertram Perkins, Richard Burdge, Thomas Reeves, Bryon Story, Kelsey Walker Jr., Clyde Potter, Jack H. Brown, Gene Bryson, Jack Landeen and Forest Olson."
