Description
Primrose Ave. See Monrovia-Duarte Community Book p 17. The Crandall house at Grand & Prospect and the Butts house at Greystone & Ivy are visiable in the distance. Since the Butts house was built in 1894 the picture is taken after 1894. It is believed this picture was taken from the roof of the house now at 225 Monroe Place. This is the oldest house in Monrovia, being built June 1884 as a 'small cottage' and later enlarged. It was the home of C.O. Monroe for many years and school was first held here. The reservoir shown on the left was located where Greystone Ave 'jogs' at its intersection with Primrose Ave and is no longer in existence.
