This is a photograph of "Father J.E. Fitzgerald with four women in Wuchow [now Wuzhou.] Rev. Fitzgerald was born in East Boston, MA. He entered The Venard, Maryknoll's Apostolic College in 1923 and was ordained at Maryknoll, New York in 1934, after which he was assigned to Kongmoon, China. He remained in Kongmoon throughout WW II, becoming pastor of the Lung Woh mission after the war. He was restricted to his mission compound in 1950 and expelled from China in 1951. He was assigned to Taiwan in 1953, and then to the Philippines in 1954. He was transferred to Hawaii in 1956. In 1969 he was transferred to mainland U.S. where he remained until his death.
