Title based on note by donor Ernest Marquez; date supplied by cataloger based on an account in Ernest Marquez publication Santa Monica Beach (Angel City Press, 2004), p. 139, of the history of the Spade Cooley Western Swing Band show that performed at the Santa Monica Ballroom on the Santa Monica Pier during the 1950s. The Santa Monica Pleasure Pier was known as the Newcomb Pier from 1943 until the 1970s.
