Description: Photograph caption dated September 13, 1956 reads, "Truck brakes checked on Ridge Route - Trucks pull into check station area before attempting descent of Five Mile Grade on Ridge Route. Highway Patrol put out detail for surprise spot check to encourage drivers to stop and test their brakes. Also checked were head and tail lights, licenses and registrations."
