Description
Photograph caption dated February 6, 1958 reads "Firemen pour water on twisted wreckage of Bell helicopter which lost its aerial stability and plunged to earth in ball of flame at Whiteman Airpark, near corner of San Fernando road and Osborne avenue, Pacoima. Two men suffered serious injuries in crash which sent billow of smoke and fire several hundred feet into air when gasoline ignited. Both men managed to unfasten safety belts and roll away from blazing wreckage." See images 00155934 through 00155936 for all photos in this series.
