Mrs. N. E. Williams, ways and means chairman of the Figueroa Street Elementary School, awards blue ribbons to some of the charter members of the school's 500 Club, for which youngsters become eligible by bringing in at least 500 pounds of old newspapers and magazines for the paper drive. Pictured on December 20, 1945, left to right, are: Mary Calvert, Nancy Thompson, Donald Berry, Carole Paynter and Mrs. Williams. A sign reads, Paper drive. 25 tons or bust!
