Description
The tedium of waiting for little bodies to mend in the children's wards of the new Los Angeles County General Hospital is alleviated by books and toys and games and lessons. Regular instruction in school work goes on in the hospital, according to what each child can do. Teachers bring books and pencils and other materials for instruction to the children's bedside by means of carts like that in the foreground. The March 13, 1934, photo shows teachers Alice Jones, at right, and Leah Robbins with a class of girls in the sunshine of a rooftop.
