Map of timber berth "W". The berth and surrounding ones can be distinguished by the boundaries which are outlined. This berth is a timber lease from the Dominion government. The license fee and ground rent are paid each year and royalty is paid at the time timber is cut. Being within the Dominion Railway Belt, a strip ten miles wide on each side of the Canadian Pacific Railway, it is controlled by the Dominion government. The drainage will show the advantageous location of this tract with reference to logging. This same location on the south slope makes the fire hazard greater and to the south is an old logging slashing shown in some of the photos and to the west is a bad burn. The Lillooct River, running through the southeast corner of the tract draws many fishermen during the dry season and is our greatest source of danger. The region between the pencil lines on the left of the map and east to the head of Lillooct Lake is handled by two Dominion rangers and two employed by the owners of "W". The region south of this is patrolled by a Provincial man
